Strangely, I get the subtle judgmental comments from fellow Filipinos. We live in Southwest London in an area where the oriental Asians are bankers, lawyers, and doctors, where your trusty nanny would be the hardworking Filipina in charge of their large Victorian homes. While I would push my little wee one’s buggy, these Filipinas would ask me how I manage to look after my “alaga.” When they learn that I am the mum, they would always say “Ang swerte mo naman, patingin naman ng asawa mo.” To people who hold the same views, I suggest you step out of your comfort zone, be it by traveling, trying something new, learning a new language, or making friends online. Maybe this will create a better and more peaceful world. Love is love; it doesn’t discriminate against skin color or language spoken. Jonathan and I both saw that the person next to us was worth spending every waking day with, and that sealed the deal. AuthorFilipinas are born to be sweet, loving and caring because of the tight family culture. This is also the very reason why most Filipinas are broken-hearted and have been taken advantage of by (not all but) most filipinos. This is why taking risks in the foreign world is worthwhile as Filipinas already know how they’ll be treated if they involve themselves with another Filipino. At least, if they take chances in the foreign world possibilities are infinite. Another reason that could lead a filipina to pursue a foreigner is that they usually work their ass off in almost everything they do. Unfortunately, the culture (forever in debt of gratitude to the family which means providing to the family as long as possible), ways of living (people are living off of loans) and economy (admit it or not, Philippines is still part of the 3rd world countries) hinders most individual’s success. Mostly if a foreigner falls in love with a filipina with not so a not so good standing in living, he gives his all to give a better life to the Filipina so she would not have to go through the same kind of living and will never be indebted to anyone, for the couple to live free and independent. Unfortunately, this kind of relationship is mostly seen as a gold digging relationship which is not-- the situation just calls for this kind of action. However, if a Filipina is already well-off, the foreigner tends to show that she still deserves better and the best in life. ArchivesNo Archives Categories |
